Single Wall Measuring Instructions
*Use these instructions for covering a single wall.
Wallpaper Measuring Tips
We like to use the principal of measure twice print once, it’s best to double check your measurements. Try to use a tape measure that is long enough to measure the wall in one run. Use a friend if you need to.
Finally – Check your measurements again.
Wall Width
Measure the horizontal distance of the wall, from corner to corner.
Wall Height
Measure the vertical height at each corner of the wall from the top of the skirting board to the bottom of the ceiling cornice. Some walls are not perfectly square so measuring in a few different locations on the wall is recommended to get the greater measurement.
Tip
If there is a difference in height or length of your wall, always select the greater of the two or three length or height measurements.
Measuring a Standard Wall for Wallpaper
Measure the full width of your wall in more than in one spot. Then measure the height of both sides of your wall double-checking that the ceiling is not sloped. Also remember that skirting boards cannot usually be covered, so measuring from the top of the skirting board and the bottom of the cornice is usually the best option. We recommend and additional 6cm be added to your actual wall size measurements to allow for extra wallpaper if your wall is not level or is slightly sloped. This can be trimmed later during or after installation.
Measuring a Slanted Wall for Wallpaper
Measure the heights and widths as you would a standard wall, ensuring that you measure the longest point for both the width and height. Also remember that skirting boards cannot usually be covered, so measuring from the top of the skirting board and the bottom of the cornice is usually the best option. The excess overhang at the top and bottom can be trimmed during or after installation upon install. We recommend and additional 6cm be added to your actual wall size measurements to allow for extra wallpaper if your wall is not level or is slightly sloped. This can be trimmed later after installation.
Measuring a Vaulted Wall for Wallpaper
Measure the heights and widths as you would a standard wall, ensuring that you measure the longest point for both the width and height. Also remember that skirting boards cannot usually be covered, so measuring from the top of the skirting board and the bottom of the cornice is usually the best option. Measuring Walls with Obstacles like Windows or Doors for Wallpaper
When measuring your wall disregard windows, doors and switches. These will simply be cut around when trimming your wallpaper during installation. It’s worth checking the wall in multiple locations to check for width and height variations. We recommend and additional 6cm be added to your actual wall size measurements to allow for extra wallpaper if your wall is not level or is slightly sloped. This can be trimmed later after installation.

Use the above methods for measuring multiple walls and combine all your measurements or just measure each wall separately and use our wallpaper calculator
Measure the width of your walls and add these measurements together. Measure the height of all your walls and select the greater height measurement. Add the additional 6cm to your greater wall height. Disregard all windows, doors and obstacles.
Work out your square metres by multiplying your total widths of all your walls by the greater height. This will help when using our wallpaper calculator.
